Kristers tips & tricks

What kind of equipment is essential for you to bring on adventures?
When I head out in alpine terrain, I bring various stuff such as
– Backpack – A good backpack that fits my back well, with all necessary functions. My preferred backpack is Rab Equipment’s 38L skiing backpack.
– Rope – A small rope for checking snowpack and rappel, if needed. My favourite is the Petzl Rad Line 6mm.
– Wedges and bail rope – If I must rappel, these items may be left behind in the mountain
– Knife – to cut the bail-rope or other things.
– Harness and personal safety equipment for acting in alpine terrain.
– Ice axes – I often bring a Gully and a Quark from Petzl. One is a lighter skier’s climbing axe, the other is a pure climbing axe.
– Extra clothes – my personal favourites are the Borealis jacket and Ascendor light hoody from Rab Equipment. I also bring some large and warm mittens in my backpack.
– Lunch box with eggs.
– Hot water in a thermos.
– Goggles
– Helmet
– A thin hat
– Transmitter, receiver and related avalanche equipment (shovel and search pole)
Any good tips to make the trip as good as possible? Any hacks that work for you?
Good planning in advance and good friends are always a good recipe for a great trip.
